Pillar · Tone
Not what you say, but how it lands
What's meant as businesslike reads as curt. What's meant as polite gets ignored. Be-Inc shows how a message may come across and suggests a tone that matches what you mean.
I just wanted to quickly check if you might have a moment to look at the budget.
Tone
What does tone mean in Be-Inc?
Tone is how a message is received: respectful, clear, confident. Be-Inc flags phrasing that may come across as hesitant, too blunt or reproachful, and suggests an alternative.
In the dashboard this pillar is called Respect. The right tone contributes to psychological safety: people feel able to respond, ask questions and say no.

What Be-Inc looks at
6 signals Be-Inc recognises
Be-Inc looks at concrete patterns in your text, not at you as a writer. For each signal you get a suggestion and the reason behind it.
Hesitant phrasing
“Just quickly… maybe… if it suits”. Be-Inc suggests a request that gets taken seriously.
Curt or blunt
A bare “no” or “sort this”. Be-Inc suggests adding a reason or next step.
Reproachful phrases
“As I already mentioned”. Be-Inc offers neutral wording that keeps the working relationship intact.
Over-apologising
“Sorry to bother you, it's probably not important”. Be-Inc shows how your message can stand stronger.
Shouting in writing
Capitals and exclamation marks read as anger. Be-Inc suggests a calmer form.
Unequal footing
Condescending or overly deferential wording. Be-Inc helps you communicate as equals.
Before and after
What a suggestion looks like
Real situations from Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Teams. Always the same pattern: what stands out, why, and what it could become.
Original
As I already mentioned, this needs to be done today.
Why: Sounds reproachful and puts the reader on the defensive.
Be-Inc suggests
Could you finish [task] today? It's needed for [reason]. Let me know if anything is blocking you.
Original
No, that won't work.
Why: A bare “no” reads as curt, with no reason or alternative.
Be-Inc suggests
Unfortunately that won't work, because [reason]. What I can do: [alternative].
Original
Sorry to bother you, it's probably not important, but I have a point about the schedule.
Why: Apologising up front weakens your point before you've made it.
Be-Inc suggests
I'd like to add one point about the schedule.

Customer service and sales

Measurable
See what changes, team by team
In the dashboard, tone sits under the Respect pillar. You see per department how many nudges were made and what share was embraced, with positively framed themes such as Equal footing. It makes visible how respectfully people communicate day to day, without assessing anyone individually.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Question not here? Just email us at info@be-inc.ai.
Does Be-Inc make every message softer?
No. Be-Inc helps your tone match what you mean. Sometimes that means friendlier, sometimes firmer, for example when a request is so hesitant it gets ignored.
What's the difference between tone and clarity?
Clarity is about whether the reader understands what you mean. Tone is about how it is received. A message can be perfectly clear and still sound reproachful.
Does Be-Inc assess my behaviour or personality?
No. Be-Inc assesses text, never people. Suggestions are visible only to you and there are no individual scores.
Can I ignore a tone suggestion?
Yes. You always keep the last word. You accept a suggestion with Replace, or you leave it.
